Viral Wise is an independent, youth-led educational initiative which helps people of all ages to understand social media algorithms and the effects they can have on us as individuals and communities.
Our fun, interactive workshops explore questions like:
What are social media algorithms designed to do?
How do they work?
Why do we get shown the content that we do?
How do they affect our thoughts, beliefs and mental health?
How do they affect our communities and culture?
How do they shape politics and the economy?
How do other types of algorithms work? (streaming, online shopping, dating apps, pornography etc.)
How can we make social media algorithms healthier and safer?
